Honestly, I haven’t watched Fantastic Four since maybe 2007. But when I watched it again last week. Oh man, I remembered why I loved it. Mostly, it was a damn good movie. I mean when it came out superhero movies were still making a comeback.
Now I love me some Chris Evan’s style Captain America. I remember being vaguely bothered that he also played Johnny Storm, but not as bothered as I was about Ryan Reynolds playing Green Lantern.
This all becomes relevant in 3…2…1
He’s amazing at BOTH characters! Seriously, Chris Evan’s was really popular for that sarcastic pretty boy character in “Not Another Teen Movie,” so it made sense that he was a good fit for the immature, but charming Johnny Storm. But don’t try to tell me he didn’t knock it out of the park for our boy Steve Rodgers, because he did.
Comparatively speaking, Steve and Johnny are on almost polar opposites of the superhero spectrum. So shouldn’t we applaud his versatility in acting instead of discrediting him for acting choices made almost a decade apart.
It can’t bother you that he played two characters, that could (potentially) meet up in the future movie!verse. It should bother you more that there have been actors (and screenplays) who have completely disserviced characters. Face it FF is going to get a reboot if it should ever come back.
So let it go. Chris Evans played a superhero 10 years ago and then played another one now. His execution was near flawless for both. Isn’t that what matters most?
