I woke up to this article of fuckery this morning from my local news’ facebook page. I took the time to read it, even though I knew it was going to offend me, and, surprise, it did.

What bothered me the most was the implication that not conforming to gender roles was a medically interventionable thing, or that it needed to be. (But as it says in the article it’s not needed because it’s gone by adulthood or those children grow up to be lesbians or gay). Then they said gender nonconformity happens in 1 in 10 children. I’m sure it’s more than that. It’s pretty easy to deviate from gender conformity.

Then we’ve got the lone douche bag (thankfully just one) say

Yeah so that’s me putting  my nose in places it shouldn’t be. I’d knew I’d get into this argument. I should have phrased “becoming trans*” better.

Automatically I get called queer and told to be a man about it. I don’t know what could be more “manly” than defending my community. Maybe I should show up at his house with my queerest of queer clothes, flannel, a football and a book of scribbled down laws that are really guidelines. (No offense to my Christian QUILTBAG and I know there are a few of you)

Most of all I am ashamed that a news source would post this, knowing this would cause a swirl of controversy, just for the Facebook hits. I know pandering when I see it and that should be unethical.
